SILVIA VARGAS Accounting and Records I joined G. A. Gertmenian & Sons fresh out of college. I have been part of the Accounting & Human Resources departments. My co-workers know me as the payroll person above all but my history with Gertmenian and its growth has given me unique opportunities to develop skills in several areas. Questions and issues with Worker’s compensation, logistics management and safety have been part of the challenges I have dealt with over the years. I enjoy developing personal connections with each employee, maintaining a safe and healthy work environment, and keeping up to date on the HR landscape. I am ready to assist in any area, happy to listen to issues and driven to find solutions. Catherine Horrigan Designer I have been with Gertmenian since 2014. My background includes textile and graphic design with experience in the hospitality and home markets. I work with the sales team to bring design & trend direction to our customer base. I develop Trend Reports based on my research to achieve our directions towards offering designs in demand. Troy Gibson Chief Financial Officer I joined the company in July of 2019 and serve as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO). I oversee corporate finance, treasury, financial reporting and assist with corporate strategic planning and initiatives. I have over 30 years of experience including 18 years as the CFO in the consumer products industry. I attended the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Science, Accounting and I was licensed in California as a Certified Public Accountant (currently inactive). It is truly a pleasure to work at Gertmenian and be a part of the long and storied history. Hank Chacon Graphic Art Director After two decades of wrangling pixels and brainstorming ideas from product launches to package designs (just to name a few) for brands like Disney, Red Bull, and Pelican, I'm thrilled to take a more grounded approach and weave my experience into the world of rugs with Gertmenian. Excited? Absolutely. Qualified? Well, let's just say I've got a good eye for patterns – both in design and in life. Here's to a future woven with creativity, a little elbow grease and maybe a few accidental rug puns along the way! Mercedes Quizon Accounts Receivable Specialist/Analyst I started with this prestigious company way back March 20, 2000. My job requires a lot of patience and presence of mind. I managed incoming payments , reconciling accounts and resolving discrepancies. This management role involves overseeing invoice preparation, recording collections of customer invoices ensuring accurate processing payments received, generating some payment reports and handling customer or internal account inquiries i.e., filing claims against chargebacks that is being applied on their remittances. Michael Campos Showroom Specialist I was born and raised in Los Angeles. I started working here at Gertmenian in June of 2018 through a temp agency and got hired into the company in October of that same year. I’ve learned so much here at Gertmenian, from assembling the racks, how to pick and pack orders for costumers, loading and offloading containers. Now I’m taking on a new task and working in our sample department displaying our new and up and coming rugs to our customers here in Los Angeles and in New York. I’m so grateful to be a part of Gertmenian team and I look forward to learning more. January 10, 2010 Family Stories The Gertmenian Family's roots in the town of Hadjin in what is now Turkey are shared by many Pasadena's early Armenian settlers. Their story is one of cataclysmic relocation and reunion, with families of two brothers leaving the homeland for America two decades apart, and eventually being reunited in Pasadena in the 1920s. Gostantin (G.A.) Gertmenian was the first brother to arrive in America in 1896. From an early start, as a peddler to establishing a successful capret business, G.A.'s relocation of business and family from the east coast to Pasadena in 1918 enabled his brother's family to get a foothold here. G.A.'s brother Mardiros fled Turkey with his extended family during the Armenian genocide of 1915, eventually settling in Pasadena in 1923. The G.A. Gertmenian family established rug businesss in Los Angeles, San Francisco and on the east coast. The other branch of the family found success in retail and wholesale groceries and eventually developed a new kind of produce business, when Dennis Gertmenian established the Ready-Pak with pre-packaged salad greens.
